Angústia, de Graciliano Ramos : investigações sobre o estado de angústia e a trajetória da personagem Luís da Silva.

Abstract

The present study investigates the psychological and existential state of the anguish, also trying to understand it as an aesthetic configurator element of the novel Anguish, by Graciliano Ramos. At first, it counts on texts by authors of the areas of Philosophy and Psychoanalysis, in order to reflect about this feeling or the state of the soul. Texts that deal with the theme by of the following authors: Sêneca, Heidegger, Kierkegaard, Sartre, Comte-Sponville, Freud, Lacan among others, are discussed. In a second moment, the study considers the novel by Graciliano Ramos. In order to do so two procedures are used: it performs a survey of the readings/interpretations proposed by the critical tradition and, afterwards, it seeks to articulate ideas therein as well as aspects of the theoretical reference of a philosophical and psychoanalytical nature in the text by Graciliano Ramos, resulting then in a new interpretation. According to a hermeneutic perspective, the work focuses on answering the following questions: in what way does the state of anguish in this work manifest itself in literary terms? What is the state of anguish of Luís da Silva? It is understood that the state of anguish is constituted in the literary plan, from a discourse that privileges the inner monologue and the flow of consciousness, procedures that allow to deeply examine the anguished soul of the character Luís da Silva. In addition, other elements of a social, psychological and memory nature contribute to the construction of this character. It is, after all, a work of investigation and theoretical reflection on this complex human state that is the anguish as well as the comprehention of the configuration that is conferred by the writer.
