Abstract

The objective of this work is to understand how the Muslim organization, Sisters In Islam, seeks to fight to guarantee the human rights of Islamic women and the empowerment of these women, using feminism as the theory for this. The specific objectives are to present the main aspects of culture, politics and society in Muslim countries, as well as to identify the human rights of Muslim women who are violated and the religious causes for it. It is also aimed at presenting one of the main organizations defending the human rights of women in the Muslim world and the changes caused by this group in women's empowerment. The methodology applied in this work is based on the dialectical method, starting from a general knowledge about the Muslim community, to then distinguish the forms of treatment to which women in these countries are subjected and how feminism in those countries has gradually achieved to change this scenario, this was done through books and scientific articles, in addition, it was also used testimonies and information taken from the official website of Sisters In Islam. The technical means of this work is the monographic, since the Sisters in Islam group can be considered representative of many other groups and situations faced by Muslim women, in addition, the descriptive method, through observation, analysis, classification and interpretation of reality, allowed to analyze the situations that the Islamic women are submitted. As a result, it stands out that it is possible for organizations and women themselves to mobilize to change the landscape of inequality to which they are subjected, without leaving their culture and beliefs aside.
