The wind of change : os millennials e a transformação da comunidade política.

Abstract

Andrew Linklater, one of the main exponents of Critical Theory for International Relations, did a work of theorizing about the possibilities of emancipation of the political community, searching in Habermas, Kant and Marx the presuppositions for the elaboration of his main work: The Transformation of Political Community (1998). In it, the author defends the transformation of political society through the expansion of the discursive community, the reduction of inequalities and the respect for differences. The present work aims to observe the advances in relation to Linklater's proposals for the emancipation of society from the perspective of generations, especially the millennial generation. The generational study by William Strauss and Neil Howe (1997, 2001), and an extensive survey by Glocalities are used to better clarify the heterogeneities within the same generational groups and differences between them. Next, the analysis takes place in three stages: I) the relationship between the dialogic method and social networks; II) Fake news and challenges for the discursive community; III) Millennials' expectations and positions on the global political scene. At the end, we return to the concepts and facts presented to identify the possibilities for the emancipation in the terms proposed by Linklater.
