Manifestações orais associadas à COVID-19.

Abstract

The new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) has become highly present in scientific studies in recent years, because the virus has triggered a new disease called COVID-19, which can affect infected people systemically. Much discussion has become about the possibility of a direct or indirect relationship of the disease with alterations in the oral cavity. That said, numerous scientific articles published purely in the years 2020 and 2021 were analyzed according to the following databases: PubMed, Google Scholar, SciELO, and SAGE Journals. Although the direct action of the new coronavirus on oral health cannot be stated with certainty yet, it is believed that it triggers systemic changes that have oral lesions as their origin. However, more studies are needed in face of the manifestations of the new coronavirus in the human being in general, besides being able to affirm with conviction, the direct and indirect consequences of the disease COVID-19 in the oral cavity.
