O paciente da unidade de terapia intensiva, o familiar e a equipe intensivista : objetivo comum, trajetórias distintas.

Abstract

In the attempt of livening up the appeals of health that you/they attack the population, the units of intensive therapy in the last decades are developing constantly and accompanying the technological development. However the sick ones still lack of a care humanity. This way, it is intended, through this research, to identify what it represents close to for the patient the relative's prolonged permanence the same in the unit of intensive therapy, as well as for the relative and the work team. For such a social, descriptive, exploratory research was accomplished, with qualitative approach. They were part of the clientele 18 patient cardiocs, interned in the unit of intensive therapy, 17 family and 36 people than work in the intensive terapy. The study happened in a general hospital of medium load in the area center-east of Big Rio of the South. The data were collected in the period of December of 1999 to February of 2000, being used semi-structured interviews, questionnaires and systematized observation. It was ended that so much the patients, as the relatives value the relative's permanence close to the sick in the unit of intensive therapy, for believing that it can be transmitted emotional support, safety and trust, contributing in the recovery. The team people than work in the intensive terapy judges that the relative's permanence in the unit of intensive therapy, for a more lingering period, would bring benefits in some situations. Thus, the three, patient, relative and people than work in the intensive terapy participate in a solitary way and they fight with the intention of contributing for the recovery of the health.
