Overdenture com encaixe tipo o'ring na maxila : um relato de caso.

Abstract

The overdenture is a type of denture that is installed on residual roots or implants. Rehabilitation is a treatment option that offers the advantages of conventional dentures, adding to the increased retention provided by cemented fittings on the roots of the remaining teeth. This paper aims to present an account of oral rehabilitation using a maxillary overdenture with type O-ring fitting. Together with the report of clinical case, this work also has important things to consider when making this type of prosthesis, such as types of fittings that can be used. Among the advantages of this prosthesis, it includes the maintenance of the alveolar bone, maintenance of sensory feedback, masticatory efficiency, psychological aspects, retention stability and aesthetics. After this work, we concluded that the overdenture associated with type O-ring fitting on roots is a good alternative to oral rehabilitation of patients who do not have the possibility of implant placement.
