A nova face de Perseu : uma leitura de Percy Jackson como herói contemporâneo.

Abstract

The word “hero” has a very wide meaning. Existing not only in a literary atmosphere, hero is, above all, someone who always exceeds new limits and trials in benefit of a greater reason. The intention of this paper is to present the analysis of Perseus Greek heroic archetype, making comparisons with the Percy Jackson and the olympians series’ main character. The literary work consists on adaptations of the primary Greek myths to a sequential context, which aims the identification with the present-day teenager. This way, we intend to relate the heroic figure with the metaphor that it enables in relation to the reader. Finally, we point out the mass literature importance, in this case, to the reading stimulus and to the self-knowledge of his audience.
