Frankenstein : o precursor dos mortos-vivos na literatura fantástica.

Abstract

This research is about Frankenstein, the zombies’ forerunner on fantastic literature. The choice arose from the Shelley’s story from 1818, which is told and retold on the literature and cinema, because of this the zombies’ characters are inserted in our lives and they acquire more readers and tele viewers each day. From this topic, the purpose of this research is to comprehend the main fantastic literature characteristics, studying the science fiction genre and analyzing the Shelley’s book, Frankenstein (1985), comparing it to the Prometheus Myth, and observing the zombies evolution on the fantastic literature and cinema. For this, we studied the definitions and characteristics of this genres based on researches that had been written by Todorov (2004) and Lovecraft (2003). We developed the literary reading and watched a lot of movies to make comparisons. Frankenstein is the first science fiction book written, and it has influences in the literature until nowadays, and mainly on the cinema, and TV series where the zombies’ characteristics are alive.
