Authors: Muraro, Daiane Cristina
Abstract: Adolescence is a period whose eating habits tend to affect adulthood. And the dietary pattern at this stage has been marked by a diet rich in fats, sugars and sodium, and a small amount of fruits and vegetables, which represent a group of food sources of fiber, vitamins and minerals. This study aimed to evaluate the nutritional status and consumption of food sources of dietary fiber by students of a school in Sobradinho / RS. This was a cross-sectional study conducted with students from 14 to 18 years old, belonging to the third year high school classes, enrolled in the Padre Benjamim Copetti State School of Primary Education - Sobradinho / RS. Information on fiber intake was collected through a food consumption frequency questionnaire (FFQ) containing dietary fiber intake in the last month. Nutritional status was obtained by classifying body mass index (BMI) for age. The sample comprised 45 students with an average age of 16.75 years. When assessing nutritional status, in both sexes it was observed that 73% of adolescents had normal BMI, 7% overweight, 11% obese and 5% severe obesity. The highest frequencies of daily consumption of fiber source foods observed were for rice, beans, lettuce and tomatoes. It was concluded that there was a higher prevalence of eutrophy and little daily consumption of food sources of dietary fiber.

Authors: Correa, Sabrina Morais
Abstract: Objective: To analyze the perception about healthy habits and to relate them to the nutritional status of students of a technical school in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul.
Materials and methods: Cross-sectional study with a quantitative methodology with 47
students of both sexes, enrolled in a Technical Course in Agropecuária, from the Technical School of Nossa Senhora da Conceição. For information on the data, use the Healthy Habits Perception Questionnaire (QPHS). The assessment of the nutritional status was carried out to verify the weight and height of the students and the calibration of the body mass (BMI). The QPHAS reliability was found using the Cronbach's alpha coefficient and presented values of correlation coefficient "r" of moderate to high magnitude (0.58 to 0.82). Results: Of the participants, 57% were male and 43% female, with ages between 15 and 19 years. The mean QPHS score was high, being 87.5 ± 11.8 points for the female sex and 83.3 ± 14.2 for the male sex. Most students are in utrophic 88%. The mean BMI was 23.11 ± 5.69 kg / m². The comparison between scores and classification of nutritional status did not present statistically significant differences (p = 0.259). Conclusion: It was concluded that the majority of the students presented high perception about healthy habits and nutritional status in eutrophy. Despite the fact that most of them present good perception, some important QPHS issues present little perception on the part of the individuals, and educational practices are necessary
to assist in the adoption of healthy lifelong habits.

Authors: Corrêa, Maiara Pereira
Abstract: This present research had the objective of studying the knowledge level of food consumption from meals full of prebiotic and probiotics between the elderly that attend the program “Third Age at UNISC”.This transversal research was done by a survey, with closed questions and answered individually, it was included 33 students from the program “Special Elderly Student of graduation from UNISC”, with ages between 60 and 85 years old, both men and women. 63,5 % of these, said that they did not know what probiotics and prebiotics are.Regard to the functional allegation of different foods, a great number of elderly (57,4%) did not know how to determine the specific benefits of meals with probiotic and prebiotic properties. The main benefit quoted was the improvement of the intestinal system, followed by the strenghtening of imuunologic system. In relation to the best means of publicizing to enlighten or inform the consumers about these meals, the more quoted options related by the interviewee were the schools and the universities (72,7%). The probiotic foods are not as
consumed and known as the prebiotic ones, whose the main foods in a daily intake named were: onioin, banana and garlic. However, the probiotic meal Kombucha is the less known and the yogurt with microbial populations was the less consumed. In this sense, it is possible to affirm that the elderly’s low knowledge can be one of the main bareers for its consumption. Because of this, it is important to emphasize the importance of food education and nutrition in the “Third Age Program from UNISC”, because this is one way to improve and spread the knowledge about prebiotic and probiotic meals, as well as the elderly start to think about the eating habits and consider about the importance of alimentation in the health, allowing a change and a return of the traditional one.
