Authors: Schuck, Renata Limberger
Abstract: The study evaluated the efficacy of the combination of LED therapy, Arnica montana and tranexamic acid in the treatment of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation after phlebectomy. The research was conducted with a patient who had hyperpigmented spots on the lower limbs. The protocol included four weekly sessions of LED therapy with blue and red light, in addition to the daily use of Arnica montana lotion 5% and tranexamic acid 3%. The results were evaluated with a caliper and photographic records with a microcamera. The results show a reduction in the size and color of the spots, suggesting an effective and safe combination that can contribute to aesthetic treatments and patient well-being.

Authors: Rosa, Milena Elisa da
Abstract: Introduction: Fibromyalgia is a syndrome characterized by widespread chronic pain, sleep disturbances, fatigue, and emotional symptoms. Hydrotherapy, through water-based exercises, may offer therapeutic benefits. Objective: To evaluate the effects of aquatic physical therapy on pain levels, sleep quality, depressive symptoms, and quality of life in women with fibromyalgia. Method: The study was conducted between March and May 2025, at the hydrotherapy complex of the FisioUnisc clinic, part of the Physical Therapy program at the University of Santa Cruz do Sul (UNISC). Four women with fibromyalgia participated in the study and underwent five weekly sessions of aquatic physical therapy, each lasting 50 minutes. The assessment instruments used were: the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) for pain, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and the SF-36 quality of life questionnaire. Results: Improvements were observed in all evaluated parameters. VAS scores decreased from 7 to 5.5, indicating pain relief. PSQI scores dropped from 16.5 to 11.5, revealing a tendency toward improved sleep quality. BDI scores showed a reduction in depressive symptoms, from 12.75 to 8.75. In the SF-36, several domains increased by more than 10 points, especially social functioning, general health, and perceived health change. Conclusion: The aquatic physical therapy protocol proved to be effective in reducing pain and depressive symptoms, as well as improving sleep quality and quality of life in women with fibromyalgia.

Title: Atuação da fisioterapia dermatofuncional no tratamento de melasma em puérperas.
Authors: Sperb, Juliete Job
Abstract: Melasma is a common hyperpigmentation during pregnancy, caused mainly by hormonal changes, sun exposure and genetic predisposition, significantly affecting women's self-esteem in the postpartum period. The aim of the study was to investigate the efficacy of the combined treatment of diamond peeling, red LED and azelaic acid in the management of melasma in postpartum women. The research was carried out through a case study with a 2 volunteer, in which clinical evaluation, MASI and MelasQol indices were performed to measure the results. The therapeutic protocol was applied over four sessions (one per week), in which diamond peeling, phototherapy with red LED (660 nm) and topical application of 8% azelaic acid were performed. The results showed a slight reduction in MASI index scores (from 10 to 9) and improvement in quality of life (MelasQol from 51 to 47 points), indicating a slight decrease in spots and a positive emotional impact. It is concluded that dermatofunctional physiotherapy, through the combination of the aforementioned resources, can be effective in the treatment of melasma in postpartum women, contributing to aesthetic and emotional improvements.
